Before we begin let’s define a couple of terms, an entity is a personification or a semi personification of an energy source. they most commonly taking forms of spirits and deities, but there are many other ways of looking at them. Whether and how much and how you personify this entity is your choice (or at least between you and the entity) and there a many many ways of personifying any one source. This is why you shouldn’t google first. Because google gives you a single “most likely” (aka most well known) answer. And if you go further you’ll go down a rabbit hole of looking at every possibility and quite probably not finding a single one that resonates with you. On top of that, it’s a little disrespectful to the entity. Imagine if you said hello to someone and instead of asking your name they took a picture of your face and scrolled through a list of similar faces trying to find the one that’s you. You’d walk away wouldn’t you? Especially if they got your identity wrong. So - if an entity is contacting you - respond, don’t research.
So How Do We Do That?
Find The Source of Energy How does it make you feel ? Is it a creative energy? A motivation to do well in school? A call to go outside and watch the stars? When do you feel it? At night? While you’re exercising? During church? Where do you feel it? In your bedroom? At a certain tree? Near a family members gravestone?
Use The Energy this goes to the “how does it make you feel” question. If you want to make art, make art. Or start a garden. It doesn’t have to be explicitly witchy, but it is best if your *making* something, at least some of the time. What do you make? Why and how do you make it?
Relate to the Entity what does it remind you of. By which i mean, places, colors, symbols, fictional characters. For example, did the energy call you to reread a favorite book? How does that relate to the energy.
Contact the Entity meaning literally open up a dialogue. Try using tarot or an oracle deck. Or another divination method. Ask the entity about its personality, its symbology, its life story. Make some sort of devotional space or item and see how it responds. Ask it to send you a dream. Use any information you are given to tweak how you are interacting with it.
Other Ideas give your entity a name (you could ask it so spell it for you on a pendulum board). draw or write out a description of you entity’s appearance, perhaps in different outfits or as different characters. If you have multiple entities, see how they are related or feel about each other.
